Hi friends! It’s finally fall and that means it’s time to get busy with all the fun fall holidays! This week I had the opportunity to try out Jenny Lee Swirl Bread and oh my gosh! It did not disappoint! You may have read on my social media accounts that this is the only bread we are going to want to eat from now on. These flavorful, hand-crafted loaves are coated in butter and then cinnamon sugar which takes anything you’re making to the next level.
My son has been loving his normal peanut butter lunch box sandwiches on the cinnamon chocolate chip flavor, and we turned our ordinary french toast into a gourmet, restaurant-worthy meal using the apple cinnamon bread. It’s delicious on its own but Jenny Lee Swirl Bread also has several drool-worthy recipes on their site that you can check out here.
About Jenny Lee Swirl Bread
Jenny Lee Swirl Bread started in Pittsburgh, PA, in the 1800s as a family-owned business. For baking their famous bread they use sustainable ingredients, including cage-free eggs, and their breads are verified Non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project. Every batch of dough is naturally fermented before it gets sheeted and is baked in crimp-style pans which creates their signature shape. They have several really neat videos on their website showing the bread-making process. I enjoy going behind the scenes to see how a product I love is made.
leftover turkey sandwich
When I read about the available flavors of Jenny Lee Swirl Bread, I was immediately drawn to Cranberry, because of the upcoming holidays. I thought it would be perfect for making a sandwich of Thanksgiving leftovers that’s a little bit fancy without going to much trouble, which basically is my life motto! This sandwich has a few layers that are easily customizable. I made it with sliced turkey breast, cranberry sauce, a blue cheese spread, caramelized onions, and arugula. We also tried it with french fried onions straight out of the can, which was tasty. I know many of us have some of those leftover after making casseroles. If you’re not a blue cheese fan, you can just use plain mayo. If you want the sandwich to be a little less sweet (since the bread and the cranberry sauce is sweet) you can leave off the cranberry sauce or you can add more blue cheese. This sandwich has a little bit of crunch from the cinnamon sugar on the bread, a good mix of thanksgiving-inspired flavors, it’s sweet and savory, and fancy without being time-consuming.

Leftover Turkey Sandwich
Ingredients
- 8 slices Jenny Lee Swirl Bread, Cranberry Flavor
- 1 lb turkey breast slices (from deli or leftover from Thanksgiving)
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (from a can or leftover from Thanksgiving)
- 1 onion, sliced into thin rings
- 2 cups arugula
For Blue Cheese Spread
- 3 oz blue cheese, crumbled
- 2 tbsp mayonaisse
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions: Coat the bottom of a skillet with olive oil. Let heat over medium-high. Add onions and cook, stirring often so the onions don't burn. Cook until brown.
- Make blue cheese spread: Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix until combined.
- Assemble sandwiches: On bread slices, add cranberry sauce to one piece, and blue cheese spread to the other. In between bread slices add turkey, caramelized onions, and arugula.
Karly says
Awesome bread! I’ll need to look out for that when I’m shopping. Your sandwich looks amazing too!
